Our boat, "Pettlandssker", is an ex RNLI Lifeboat. She is a Watson 42 built by Groves & Gutheridge on the Isle of Wight and commissioned in 1963.
Originally named the “Dorothy & Philip Constant” she was the Shoreham Lifeboat from 1963 to 1981. She was then stationed at Oban for two years before joining the RNLI reserve fleet until being sold in 1988.
She is MCA Coded Category 2 to operate
up to 60 miles from a safe haven and
carry up to 12 passengers.
The Skipper, Hamish Mowatt, has over
35 years experience of fishing and ferrying
passengers in the Pentland Firth. This
includes Pentland Skerries, Swona, Stroma
and John O'Groats. He has lived in Orkney
all of his life.
The knowledgable crew can provide lots of local information.
